Nowadays, the word ‘air pollution’ is very familiar to us as it can happens everyday throughout the world. Air pollution need to be curbed as it brings many effects to human beings, animals and plants. According to newspaper, the qualities of air level in some countries have been polluted badly. In fact, there are many ways that can be worked out in order to curb the air pollution.
What can we do to help curb the air pollution? We can begin the curb by fitting catalytic converters on our own motor vehicles and using unleaded petrol to reduce the amount of pollutants in the exhaust gases. Besides, we can decrease the number of motor vehicles on the road as they are one of the biggest source of air pollutants. There are some methods that we can use such as carpool, public transports, walk or go to some near places by cycling so that the number of cars that release pollutants into the air can be reduced.
Moreover, there must be an strict enforcement of laws by the government in order to decrease the level of air pollution. Through this way, people will not be able to do the pollution. For instance, government need to ban open burning strictly. Even though burning is a necessary activity, it is one of the way which pollutes the air easily. Therefore, the people who are caught against the laws will be fined or even take in custody. Furthermore, government can lay down the laws such as the using of public transport as it can help reduce pollution and ease traffic congestion as well as require manufacturers to fit catalytic converter in the vehicles they sell.
To curb air pollution, green campaigns can be held whether by the government or corporate organizations. Through the campaigns, people will be more informed with general knowledge about the effects of pollution to the living things and thus they will not carry out activities which can pollute the air but help to curb the air pollution. Some activities that can be carried out are such as planting more plants, putting notice boards which can encourage people do not pollute the air like ‘Do Not Open Burning”, “Save Our Earth’ and ‘No Smoking’ besides using biological control instead of using pesticides.
In addition, the government must monitor the smoke which is produced by the factories whether it is poisonous or not. If the factories have been caught for producing poisonous air pollutants, they must be stopped from operating immediately and take legal action so that it will not affect the air qualities and human’s health. Government can also encourage industries to reduce the amount of pollutants that released into the air by installing devices to reduce the level of the pollutants from gases and smoke that come out of chimneys at power stations and factories.
Apart from that, smokers should reduce the frequency of smoking as smoking contributes to the increasing of level of pollution besides succumb to diseases such as lung cancer, heart attack and emphysema. In order to overcome this problem, government should restrict the number and types of cigarettes produced by cigarette companies so that the number of people who smoke can be reduced and thus directly helps to control the air pollution. Smokers also need to be educated about the effects of smoking so that they will aware of the air pollution issue besides the effects to their health.
As a conclusion, clean and fresh air is very important for living things in order to survive. Hence, we should cooperate to take good care of the environment so that we can ensure a clean, healthy and safe environment for ourselves and also our next generation.
